MGI Hosts South African Business – Amandla Omnotho Executive

In keeping up with its objectives of:

  • Building Capacity on Good Ethics Globally to fight against moral deterioration in Society,
  • Educating people to fight poverty,
  • Building Better Business Leaders,
  • Building International Connections Focusing on the Future Generations, the founders of Moerane Global Initiative hosted Chairman Adamo Holdings (Pty) Ltd / Amandla Omnotho, Mr. Gugulethu Xaba, from August 7-14, 2022

Mr. Xaba had a jam-packed itinerary which included amongst other things a visit to Alliant Energy Solar farm, a visit to Pearce’s Farm Stand -a Cooperative Farm, Alternative Building industry by Wall-Tech, Community Within The Corridor which is a bold new property that will consist of 197 apartments and is spearheaded by young black entrepreneurs, the Mohican Pow Wow Annual Celebration, amongst other things.

The cherry on top however was the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Madison Region Economic Partnership (MadREP). The Mayor of Madison Satya Rhodes-Conway and the Deputy Mayor of Madison, Dr. Linda Vakunta, Executive Vice President/COO of Madison Area Technical College Dr. Mark Thomas, and President of MadREP, Mr. Jason Fields, were amongst the dignitaries that were in attendance.

The articles of the MOU include:

  • Host a delegation to visit the MadREP region
  • Work with the State to organize a trade mission to South Africa
  • Seek opportunities to foster sister city relationships with the cities in the MadREP Region.
  • Host a delegation to visit the South Africa region
  • Work with MadREP to organize a trade mission to South Africa
  • Seek opportunities to foster sister city relationships with the selected and recommended cities in the South African Region.

MGI representatives attend the South African Civic & Immigration Workshop

Magugu Davis, MGI and Her Excellency Consul General Phumzile Mazibuko listens during workshop presentations

The South African Consul General – Her Excellency Phumzile Mazibuko who is a great friend and supporter of MGI conducted a Civic and Immigration workshop at the South African Consulate in Chicago with her Staff. This is one of many outreach efforts that the Consul General has organized so that South African Citizens and their spouses living in the 14 State jurisdiction of the Chicago Consulate understand the vast amount of resources and services the Consulate has to offer.

Mr. Thabo Seotlo, Consul: Political

The Opening and Welcome remarks were conducted by Mr. Thabo Seotlo, Consul: Political for the Consulate as well as the Program Director. He gave a brief overview of what services were available through the Consulate and the speakers who would present on specific topics such as Immigration Law, VISA requirements, the various application process through the Department of Home Affairs, and the status of the country.

Some of the questions attendees inquired about were dual citizenship, spousal requirements through the registration of a marriage conducted in the USA but not registered in South Africa, the USCIS Citizenship process, and the requirements for parents who have children born in the USA and the process to register them for travel to South Africa.

The closing remarks of the South African Civic and Immigration Workshop were given by Her Excellency Consul General Phumzile Mazibuko who reminded all of us who were in attendance that we all play an important role in promoting and branding South Africa in our own unique way.
